Graham Bader, Fellow Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung

Graham Bader is Associate Professor of Art History, Rice University, and currently an Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung Fellow at the Humboldt University’s Institute of Art and Visual History. His research focuses on late-twentieth-century European and American art and the interwar avant-gardes of Germany and Russia. The author of Hall of Mirrors: Roy Lichtenstein and the Face of Painting in the 1960s (October Books, 2010) and editor of the 2009 October Files volume on Lichtenstein’s work, Bader has published widely on artists including Kazimir Malevich, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, and Gerhard Richter, as well as on topics across twentieth-century art. His current research focuses on the art and design projects of the German Dadaist Kurt Schwitters.

Benjamin Paul is Associate Professor at Harvard University and currently Marie Curie Fellow at the H4Human program of the Gerda Henkel Stiftung. A specialist in Italian Renaissance art his work focusses in particular on Venetian architecture and painting of the 16th century. His recent publications include the book Nuns and Reform Art in Early Modern Venice: The Architecture of Santi Cosma e Damiano and its Decoration from Tintoretto to Tiepolo (London, 2012) and the edited volume Celebrazione e autocritica. La Serenissima e la ricerca dell’identità veneziana nel tardo Cinquecento (Rome, 2014). He is currently editing a volume with the proceedings of a conference he organized on the tombs of the doges of Venice. Paul is also a critic writing on contemporary art in journals such as Artforum and Springerin.
