Vita
Lucía Rodríguez Navarro has recently obtained her Ph.D. in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, titled: “Time and historicity of Old Testament narrative images in Iberian temples (1080-1200)”, planned to be published in the near future. Through sculpted and painted images in buildings of the Iberian Peninsula, she has examined the Middle Ages’ temporal perception of Old Testament realities. The main question of her research has focused on what an image of the Old Testament is in a Christian context, and how its narrative structure pre-presents its fulfilment, following Erich Auerbach’s thoughts in Mimesis and Figura. During her Ph.D. she has also conducted research in the Centre d’études supériéures de civilization médiévale (CESCM, Poitiers) and the Centre for Early Medieval Studies (Brno, Czech Republic).
She is currently a fellow in the Institut für Kunst- und Bildgeschichte, enrolled in prof. Kathrin Müller’s international project on “Contexts and Media of Typology in the Twelfth-Century”, planned for 2025 and 2026.
