Die Professur für Kunstgeschichte Osteuropas am Institut für Kunst- und Bildgeschichte lädt am 19. Mai 2023 zum VIII. Internationalen Doktorand*innenforum Kunstgeschichte des östlichen Europas an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin ein. Das Forum dient als Austausch- und Vernetzungsplattform für Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen, die sich in ihrer Forschung mit der Kunst des geografischen, historischen, politischen und soziokulturellen Raumes Ost- und Ostmitteleuropas auseinandersetzen. Im Jahr 2023 möchten wir angesichts des fortwährenden Kriegsgeschehens in Europa – des russischen Angriffskrieges auf die Ukraine – insbesondere die regionalen, medialen, historiographischen und epistemologischen Ansätze der Kunstgeschichte des östlichen Europas kritisch diskutieren. Nach dem pandemiebedingten digitalen Format wird das diesjährige Internationale Doktorand*innenforum Kunstgeschichte des östlichen Europas wieder als Präsenzveranstaltung in Berlin durchgeführt.
Seit seiner Gründung im Jahr 2014 fördert das Forum den direkten Austausch der Promovierenden über spezifische konzeptionelle Fragen und methodische Probleme kunsthistorischer Forschung auf dem Gebiet des östlichen Europas. Diese internationale Plattform bietet Gelegenheit und Raum, über inhaltliche, methodische und praktische Probleme der Dissertationsprojekte in einen Gedanken- und Erfahrungsaustausch zu treten, Kontakte zu pflegen und zu knüpfen sowie Kompetenzen zu vernetzen. Die aktuellen Forschungsvorhaben – und auch ihre Fortschritte und Modifizierungen im Laufe der Jahre – sind darüber hinaus auf der Homepage des Forums dokumentiert (http://www.kunstgeschichte.hu-berlin.de/institut/lehrstuehle/lehrstuhl-fuer-kunstgeschichte-osteuropas/internationales-doktorandenforum/).
Doktorand*innen, die sich mit einem Thema aus der Kunstgeschichte (oder einem angrenzenden Fachgebiet) des östlichen Europas beschäftigen, sind herzlich eingeladen, Ihre Promotionsprojekte vorzustellen. Wenn Sie an der Veranstaltung teilnehmen möchten, senden Sie uns bitte ein Exposé zu. Wir bitten Sie, darin den Forschungsgegenstand und die Fragestellung Ihrer Dissertation kurz zu beschreiben, die methodischen Ansätze Ihrer Arbeit zu erörtern sowie potenzielle Problematiken dieser Punkte zu formulieren. Wir bitten auch um die Einsendung von kurzen CVs, ggf. mit einer Publikationsliste. Nach Einsendeschluss werden ausgehend von den eingereichten Exposés thematische Schwerpunkte gebildet und fünf Promotionsprojekte für Vorträge (à 20 Min) ausgewählt. Für alle weiteren Teilnehmer*innen wird es eine Möglichkeit geben, sich und das Promotionsprojekt kurz vor Ort vorzustellen (à 5 Min). Zusätzlich wird für diejenige, die nicht persönlich am Forum teilnehmen können, eine limitierte digitale Vorstellungsrunde organisiert. Die Auswahl und Benachrichtigung der Referent*innen erfolgt bis zum 8. März 2023. Die Reise- und Unterbringungskosten werden für die ausgewählten Vortragenden übernommen.
Die Konferenzsprachen sind Deutsch und Englisch.

- 4000 Zeichen (inkl. Leerzeichen);
- in einem bearbeitbaren Dateiformat (keine pdf-Datei);
- Name, Arbeitstitel des Dissertationsprojektes, ggf. institutionelle Zugehörigkeit, E-Mail-Adresse

The Chair of Art History of Eastern Europe at the Department of Art and Visual History invites you to the VIII International Forum for Doctoral Candidates in East European Art History at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin on 19 May 2023. The forum serves as a platform for exchange and networking for young scholars whose research focuses on the art of the geographic, historical, political, and socio-cultural space of Eastern and East Central Europe. In 2023, facing the ongoing war in Europe – the Russian invasion of Ukraine – we would like to critically discuss in particular the regional, medial, historiographical, and epistemological approaches to the art history of Eastern Europe. After the digital format due to the pandemic, this year’s International Forum for Doctoral Candidates in East European Art History can again be attended in person in Berlin.
Since its initiation in 2014, the forum has promoted the direct exchange of doctoral candidates on the specific conceptual questions and methodological problems of art historical research in the field of Eastern Europe. This international platform offers the opportunity and space to enter into an exchange of ideas and experiences on the content-related, methodological, and practical problems of the dissertation projects, to maintain and establish contacts and to network competences. The current research projects and their progress and modifications over the years are furthermore documented on the forum’s homepage (http://www.kunstgeschichte.hu-berlin.de/institut/lehrstuehle/lehrstuhl-fuer-kunstgeschichte-osteuropas/internationales-doktorandenforum/).
Doctoral candidates who are working on a research topic from the history of art of Eastern Europe (or a related academic field) are invited to present their projects. If you would like to participate in the forum, please send us an exposé. We ask you to briefly describe the material focus of your research and the central questions of your dissertation, to elaborate on the methodological approaches of your work and to formulate potential problems of these points. Please send us also a brief CV, possibly with a list of your hitherto publications. After the closing date for applications, thematic focal points will be formed on the basis of the submitted exposés and five doctoral projects will be selected for presentations (20 min. each). All other participants will have the opportunity to briefly introduce themselves and their research project (5 min. each) on-site. Additionally, a limited online presentation round will be organised for those who cannot attend the Forum in person. The selection and notification of the speakers will be sent out by 8 March 2023. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered for the selected speakers.
The conference languages are German and English.
